Back to The Defiant Few ←I Am Exhausted. Sleep Is Not Impressed.
Insomnia is bad enough without making every awake hour proof that I am managing my illness badly.
Please relax with sufficient determination. Stop concentrating, but remain aware of whether you have successfully stopped. Empty your mind without checking what is in it. If sleep has not arrived, try less hard with greater commitment. This is the imaginary instruction manual my insomnia deserves. It should come printed on a pillow by someone who has never needed one.
I am exhausted. Sleep is not impressed. Apparently, exhaustion is merely a reference, not a reservation. I can present an entire body’s worth of supporting material and still find myself outside the velvet rope while some imaginary man who had half a sandwich and a mildly demanding afternoon gets waved straight through.
